When we think electric vehicle, the same questions often come up. Whether it's at home, at the office, on your outings near you or during a getaway, there are many charging solutions available to make it easy for you to enjoy your Citroën
1. The power grid
It can be monophased - most home installations - or three-phase. Before choosing your charging solution you need to check the type of installation you have.
2. The charging station
It defines the power distributed and the recharge time of your plug-in electric or hybrid vehicle.
Several solutions are available: standard charging with a domestic or reinforced socket, accelerated charging with a Wall box-type charging station at home or on the public network, fast and super fast charging on the public and motorway network. Superchargers from 50kw are equipped with their own cable, they are not compatible with plug-in hybrid vehicles.
3. The charging cable
The speed of the load also depends on the power that the cable can accommodate. With each charge its cable.
4. The on-board charger
Its role is to convert the alternating current provided by the plugs and charging stations (excluding superchargers) into direct current to power the battery. Its power also determines the recharge times.
More powerful on-board chargers can therefore be available as an option, depending on the vehicle, to take advantage of optimized charging times.
5. The battery
The traction battery is guaranteed for 8 years or over 160,000 km for at least 70% of its charging capacity.
Our electric vehicle batteries are compatible with fast or super-fast charges available on the public grid.
Several types of cables are offered to you, to optimise the charge of your vehicle. These cables are available as standard, optional or as an accessory depending on the vehicle.
This cable can provide you with up to 1.8 kW of power. It is used to recharge on a home socket.
This cable can provide you with up to 3.7 kW of power. It significantly improves charging times compared to a standard socket.
This cable can provide you with up to 7.4 kW of power. It can be used with a Wall box installed at home or on a public charging station. Home charging on Wall box allows you to get complete battery life in 2 hours for a plug-in hybrid vehicle and less than 1 night for an electric vehicle.
On a plug-in hybrid vehicle, you will need to take the 7.4kW on-board charger option to take advantage of this type of charging.
Specific to electric vehicles, this cable can provide you with up to 22kW. It is compatible with both a single-phase installation (Wall box 7.4kW) or three-phase (Wall box 11kW) at home or at work. It is ideal for regular refills on public charging stations. On three-phase installations, it will allow you to enjoy better charging times.
To enjoy the benefits of this type of charging, your vehicle must be equipped with an 11kW on-board charger (optional).
If you require an urgent charge, you can use a conventional home socket. This is for emergency use only and should not be used as a regular charging solution.
There are several charging modes depending on the miles you travel daily and the charging solutions you also have outside your home.
Wall box 7.4kW or 11kW: Installing a Wall box charging station is the perfect solution if you want to take advantage of optimised charging time.
Standard connection: A simple connection on a wall socket, only to be used in emergencies.
