Citroën has today announced its official commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship starting this coming 2026 season. An electric, innovative and passionate adventure that embodies the French marque’s values and their vision for the mobility of tomorrow. Continuing to thrill the hearts of motor racing enthusiasts, Citroën is officially returning to motor racing as a factory team, sharing values by reconnecting with motorsport in its most visionary form - a 100% electric and technologically inspiring competition.
As part of the announcement, Citroën have brought Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy on board for its Formula E adventure. These two talented drivers, who have extensive experience in Formula E, will fly the brand's colour’s high as it enters the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Jean-Éric Vergne, a 35-year-old French driver, has established himself as a leading figure in modern motorsport. After an outstanding career in national and international single-seater racing, he has made a name for himself in Formula E, becoming the first driver to win two consecutive titles. His versatility also extends to endurance racing, where he drives for Peugeot TotalEnergies in the FIA WEC, accumulating experience and performances in all categories of circuits. Jean-Éric Vergne’s career is dotted with many highlights, such as his stint in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso from 2012 to 2014, Formula E debut with Andretti Autosport in 2014, Two Formula E Championships and a continued commitment to FIA WEC with Peugeot TotalEnergies.
Nick Cassidy, a 31-year-old driver from New Zealand, is one of the most accomplished talents of his generation in motorsport. After promising beginnings in karting and single seaters, he shone in Japan by winning the ‘Japanese Triple Crown’ consisting of Super Formula, Super GT and Formula 3. In 2020, he joined Formula E, where he quickly established himself as a serious contender for the title, racking up victories and podium finishes. After two remarkable seasons with Jaguar TCS Racing, he joins the Citroën Racing team while remaining with the Peugeot TotalEnergies team in the FIA WEC. Nick Cassidy is considered one of the most accomplished drivers of his generation, with feats in Formula 3, Super GT, Super Formula, Formula E, DTM and FIA WEC.
With an entry to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in 2026, Citroën is re-immersing itself in motorsport with two exceptional drivers in Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy. More information will be shared at the official reveal on the 20th of October.
