As a responsible vehicle manufacturer, we are the European leader in low CO2 emissions. In 2007, underlining its long-term commitment, Citroën launched its own eco-label: ‘Airdream’.
Citroën's environmental commitment and advanced efficiency are perfectly illustrated by Airdream. It's a benchmarking scheme that has three demanding criteria that a vehicle must achieve before it can wear the name:
Emit no more than 140g of CO2 per kilometre.
Be produced in an ISO 14001 certified plant. All production sites meet the demanding standards of ISO 14001 certification (fewer nuisances, continuous improvement, etc.).
Be 95% recoverable. Traceability, recovery and dismantling. All steps are taken to recover vehicle materials for energy.
Only e-HDi, electirc and Hybrid4 engined Citroëns currently qualify. It's no surprise that Citroën is one of the leaders in Europe for low CO2 emissions. In the classification published by the ADEME (France's Environment and Energy Management Agency) in 2009 for sales in 2008, the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group ranked first among vehicle manufacturers in Europe with average CO2 emissions of 140 g/km. Since then Citroën have introduced even more fuel efficient vehicles such as DS5 Hydbrid4, which emits just 88g/km of CO2.
