In 2017, Citroën is launching an unprecedented SUV offensive by revealing two new vehicles. Revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show, C5 Aircross will go on sale in Europe by the end of 2018.
A second more compact SUV, Citroën C3 Aircross, will also be unveiled very soon being launched as early as 2017 in Europe.
Inspired by the Aircross concept revealed in 2015, Citroën C5 Aircross is a standard-bearer that naturally affirms its distinctness: a unique attitude, energetic and confident, in line with Citroën’s DNA and SUV principles.
Based on its experience and the know-how of its engineers, Citroën has developed this new suspension, the aim of which is to improve the quality of the filtering, typically Citroën, which is dear to the brand's customers. 20 patents have been registered.
These cushions meant that our engineers could give C5 Aircross a greater range of displacement that gives passengers a ‘magic carpet’ ride: it feels as if the vehicle flies over uneven road surfaces.
With its 2,730-mm wheelbase – the largest in its category – C5 Aircross offers best-in-class living conditions, especially in the rear seating zone. It also boasts countless handy storage areas (generous glove compartment, central storage facility, etc.) and a roomy, cubic boot with a 482-litre volume.
The broad, thick seating in C5 Aircross invite passengers to settle in to an unprecedented travel experience with unrivalled comfort.
The front seats offer an advanced multi-point massage system that operates via eight air pockets arranged over the backrest and gives the choice of five programmes.
With Grip Control, this SUV can take on any type of terrain. Available in five modes (standard, sand, snow, off-road, and ESP OFF), this technology is complemented with a control and safety innovation: Hill Assist Descent Control. On steep inclines this feature keeps C5 Aircross at low speeds as it descends, controlling its trajectory.
360 Vision relays the immediate surroundings of C5 Aircross from a bird’s-eye view on your touchscreen. From this new aerial angle, the driver can assess distances and nearby obstacles more clearly. The feature is especially handy in delicate situations, like manoeuvring in narrow alleys or traffic.
Adaptive cruise control with a Stop feature is a driving-assistance system that detects the car in front and automatically keeps a safe distance from it that the driver sets beforehand, until the vehicle stops, through braking and accelerating.
Through Citroën Connect Nav – a 3D, connected navigation system – Citroën C5 Aircross uses cutting-edge technology to offer many navigational benefits. The driver just has to touch the 8” HD capacitive screen linked to the system or use its voice-recognition feature to control the Navigation, Telephone, and Media options without taking their eyes off the road.
It also includes the Mirror Screen feature (Apple CarPlay™ notably) via which smartphone applications can be safely enjoyed on the touchscreen.
C5 Aircross also includes a hands-free tailgate that proves handy when your arms are heavily laden. With this feature, the boot can be easily opened from a sensor beneath the rear bumper: you just swipe your foot under it and the boot opens.
